
The Manchester, England, business news publication launched in August 2007 by US publisher Crain Communciations has ceased publishing due to loss of key advertisers, leaving entrepreneurial regional newspaper refugees to pick up the remains of its audience.
Crain’s Manchester Business folded in the last couple of weeks, three years after beginning to replicate editor-in-chief Crain’s successful US metro business news model.
But it appears to have struck an informal deal with TheBusinessDesk, a site started in 2007 by former Yorkshire Post business editor David Parkin.
On Wednesday, Crain’s devoted its homepage to a letter urging readers to subscribe to TheBusinessDesk’s Yorkshire website and newsletter.
How-Do and The Drum suggest the relationship does not involve transfer of Crain’s 2,400-member mailing list.
