Bebo’s Own Platform To Follow Joining Of OpenSocial?

By Robert Andrews
Originally published by paidContent paidContent, paidContent paidcontent:uk • 2nd November 2007

Bebo’s London-based international president Joanna Shields yesterday fronted the announcement her company was joining Google’s (NSDQ: GOOG) new OpenSocial API alliance, a common programming model using which sites will be able to build social applications – but Bebo has more up its sleeves. The same announcement says: “Bebo is scheduled to make a further platform announcement on November 13, 2007.” The company has scheduled a press event for that day at Bafta’s headquarters. Could Bebo be about to start its own, Facebook-like widgets platform? It’s just one of “a series of major announcements” due by year’s end.
