Connection beats attention for 2023 brand trust

By Duncan Willett, News UK
Originally published by The Map The Map • 23rd January 2023

A number of our customers are highlighting brand trust and brand reputation as their key priorities.

In 2023, authenticity and tonality will remain paramount.

The focus across the industry remains on attention metrics, but the News UK Agency Development team is working on a strategic framework based on “conversation, connection and context“.

We have already seen a return to conversation – the return of discursive meetings that fuel creativity, and enable reframing of client challenges.

Our belief is that “connection” is more important than attention, so we are working on tactics to build connectivity with our customers, whilst articulating how brands can connect with our audiences most effectively.

Finally, we still cannot overstate the importance of context when building brand fame.

It is incumbent on us to ensure our customers know how our news brand context can supercharge their advertising.
