Trutap Mobile Social App Taps Up Another £3.23 Million Funding

By Robert Andrews

Trutap, a new social media application for mobile phones, has raised another $6.5 million (£3.23 million) from The Tudor Group and angel investors. The downloadable service, which offers blog posting, multi-protocol IM, group SMS, web photo-sharing and access to existing social networks, last year raised $1.2 million (£600,000) angel funding and an initial $6.5 million (£3.23 million) from Boston-based Tudor.

Now the London-based company, whose CEO and co-founder is former Dragons’ Den judge Doug Richard, has raised a further “follow-on” first round it says will be used for further development, marketing and strengthening the team across key regions. Trutap was launched in beta at the TechCrunch40 event in San Francisco last week and said this brings total funding to $13 million (£6.45 million). It’s aimed at 18- to 24-year-olds and has previously stated its main targets are teenagers in Brazil, Russia, India and China.
