Round-Up: VideoJug/MySpace; Glasgow Hyperlocal; Facebook Deutsche

VideoJug: I’m not sure when starting a MySpace profile qualified as a “deal”, but that’s what Telegraph.co.uk and Media Week say Canary Wharf-based how-to video site VideoJug has done by syndicating 100 of its 38,000 clips to the social network, which recently added BBC Worldwide footage to its roster. Now even emos can learn how to fold a t-shirt.

Glasgow: Glasgow’s Evening Times has kickstarted the first 12 of what it says will be 80 hyperlocal websites for the city. The Gorbals Clydeside area site, for example, includes a noticeboard (literally), relevant stories fed from the Times site and, most importantly, an invitation for readers’ own posts, video and photos. Local groups are invited to set up mini-sites within. AllMediaScotland: “The paper will also look to recruit local correspondents to help run the sites and will pay tip-off fees for items which make the paper.”

Facebook: The social net today went live in its second non-English language. The German localisation was carried out by over 2,000 volunteers and Facebook reckons it has more than a million active German users, which doesn’t put it in Facebook’s top 10 territories, Reuters reports. The Spanish translation was done in February and more are imminent.
