Bebo has hired Philip Macartney, a sales exec with Dublin’s FM104 radio station, as head of sales in Ireland, one of its most popular territories. Macartney a founder of online kiosk maker Every1online, is Bebo’s first appointment in Ireland and comes following its $850 million acquisition by AOL (NYSE: TWX), suggesting the portal parent wants to monetise the social network in one of its strongest and most obvious user bases. Macartney will be based in Dublin. It also hints at more media partnerships with Irish broadcasters and others.
