Kent Nicholls and Doug Sarine have come a long way since unleashing an obscure vidcast about an all-knowing ninja in November 2005. So much so that, over a dinner in Hollywood last month, an aghast Nicholls had to remind one guest who hadn’t heard of the bi-weekly Ask A Ninja comedy sketch: “It’s one of the most famous, most watched pieces of internet entertainment ever.”
But rarely would the pair have expected the Ninja to grace Google Zeitgeist, Google’s (NSDQ: GOOG) high-profile online business gathering in Hertfordshire earlier this week. From there, a ninja quote: “New media content creators are like rats, and the internet is like London circa 1665.” Ah, wise indeed…
Even better, Nicholls’ question to Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page: “Are you for ninjas or pirates?” Brin: “If I had to choose, I’d probably take the ninja.”
