Print Bits: FT Ignites Europe, Johnston Not Selling

Ignite: Money-Media, the online news source for the money management industry which FT publisher Pearson (NYSE: PSO) acquired in January, has launched a European version of its Ignites fund industry news site. Ignites has been going 10 years but the European version will be HQ’d at the FT’s London base and will include both original articles and summaries from Europe-wide publications, Media Week reports.

Johnston: Regional publisher Johnston Press’ CEO Tim Bowdler says speculation it may sell the entire company to Malaysian investor Usaha Tegas are “utterly without substance”. The market buzzed with the rumour last week, and Johnston’s stock saw much institutional investor action, following Usaha’s £212.3 million acquisition of a 20 percent stake in May, designed to help Johnston repay debt. But Bowdler told HoldTheFrontPage there’s nothing to suggest a further sell-off.
