Perhaps some dedicated online magic can rescue troubled Yell.com operator Yell Group from its precipitous fall. It’s hired LA car marketer Autobytel‘s chief product officer Mark Canon to its new position of new media president. Canon is a two-year former product VP at AOL (NYSE: TWX) Search. He will join Yell this Wednesday, taking charge of the directories group’s UK new media strategy. He will report to CEO John Condron, release says. What’s unclear is whether Condron will still be around for Canon to report to. The Sunday Express reported Yell’s board of non-executive directors has invited headhunters to find a replacement for the CEO. Yell shares have nosedived 90 percent since their March 2007 high, thanks mainly to the classified ads outlook affecting perception of its Yellow Pages.
