Online secondary tickets marketplace Seatwave has made a high-profile appointment to its board. News Corp (NYSE: NWS) Europe’s chairman Marty Pompadur is joining as a non-executive director, and is likely to invest in the company. That follows its appointment of CFO Aksel van der Wal from Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) and its big $25 million third round funding. Seatwave, which is competing with Viagogo for second-hand tickets and, increasingly, is looking to sign primary ticket deals with event organisers, claims 250,000 active tickets.
Pompadur’s CV includes ABC and a stint as Ziff-Davis president; he has been News Corp’s European chairman since 2000, but Rupert Murdoch’s recent appointment of his son to the CEO level for the continent has seen some senior-level changes including the appointment of a new CEO for the European TV business.
