eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) is switching on its AdChoice system in the UK – a behavioural targeter that uses buyers’ and sellers’ profile data to better target display adverts. eBay unveiled the scheme in the US back in October, powered by AOL’s (NYSE: TWX) Platform-A behavioural unit Tacoda. Now, as a typically het-up Register reports, it’s emailed UK users to say it’s introducing the scheme here via a revision to its privacy policy. It’s not just eBay data being used: “In some cases, we may also use information from other companies to select the right audiences for our promotions … If you do not wish to accept the new User Agreement or Privacy Policy, please refer to our Help pages for instructions on how to close your account.”
