BBC Worldwide looks like paying more digital attention to Europe, Middle East and Africa (yes, it’s a single region), appointing Simon Hutson as VP of digital and DVD there. That will see him working with overall digital director Simon Danker. Hutson is merely moving from his post as publishing head, and bringing the DVD duties from that post. Now his role is to build out digital revenue streams in the region – perhaps his role suggests either a maturing of the market here or that Danker’s broader focus lays elsewhere, ie. on BBC Worldwide’s US assault.
