Publishing Watch: Euromoney, Future, Lagardere Updates

Euromoney: The finance publisher said current turbulent economic times will have no impact on its business. In a trading update to the market, it said pre-tax profit for the year to September 30 will be around £64 million after “strong performances from subscription revenues and from emerging markets”. September was particularly strong. Clearly, the financial crash is good news for some.

Future: The magazine publisher said it’s on track to meet expectations when it reports full-year earnings in November. In its update, Future said: “While trading conditions remain tough, Future continues to prove resilient, reflecting the group’s focus on areas of special-interest.” It’s focused on “active portfolio
management and continued progress in our digital strategy”.

Lagardere: The French publisher of Elle magazine has ruled out print acquisitions in 2009 but will continue to look for opportunities to build its internet ops, CEO Didier Quillot said (via Reuters), adding full-year income will have increased despite the economic climate when it reports.
