Earnings: Ten Alps Holding Up, Strikes BT Tradespace Deal

imageimageBob Geldof’s Ten Alps TV and online video producer saw operating profit slip 3.4 percent to £1.74 million on 1.3 percent worse income of £37.1 million between April and September. The company, which makes online commercial videos, acknowledged it has been a “challenging” nine months since April but said demand had increased since the recession began. Case in point: a new deal announced today with BT’s Tradespace small-business classifieds community, to which Ten Alps will now sell its advertising services – incremental revenue, for sure, but may be tough as small businesses start to hold on to ad spend.

After producing Teachers TV and the Kent local authority’s Kent TV service, Ten Alps says it’s now bidding in more tenders for public service online broadcasting. It also plans an overall public-service online TV info service, Public TV, incorporating Optometry TV, Vets TV and GPTV. In the B2B online video advertising space that makes up about half of its business, CEO Alex Connock said there are “no other national players visible at present”. Ten Alps this year bought online video ad producers Twenty First Century Media of Newcastle and Multimedia Arts of Manchester. Release.
