France Telecom Offloading Two E-Commerce Sites; Scaling Back on Online Shopping Ambitions

To those who didn’t know before – France Telecom (NYSE: FTE) owns two gadget and home entertainment retailer websites, Topachat.com and Clust.com in France. But now it’s selling them on to a dedicated ecommerce operator in France, Rue Du Commerce. Each of the sites sells hardware like PCs, hi-fis, video equipment and other electrical appliances. The agreement was signed on Friday and the sale will complete on February 27, but no acquisition price has been given. FTE bought the two sites in 2006 with big ambitions to break in to online commerce through its Alapage.com shopping site. Release.
