Tiscali: Yes, Internet Users Steal Music; P2P Aids Discovery

Tiscali’s contribution to the debate on whether ISPs should be culpable for illegally downloaded music – a survey in which its website users admit to illegally freeloading but blame the music business for not dissuading them.

The poll, which was hosted on its website and answered by 1,000 visitors, shows that nearly half (46 percent) use P2P networks and more than three quarters understand that freeloading is illegal. But only six percent fear a fine, only three percent fear being disconnected or monitored and 15 percent say they won’t stop. More than half had the gaul to grumble “the music industry doesn’t do enough to persuade them that illegal downloading is damaging, Tiscali said.
