Musicians Hold First Digital Rights Meeting, Target Nokia Sales

Spot the celebrity! These pictures show members of the Featured Artists Coalition, who met at their inaugural meeting in London on Wednesday afternoon after their original date was thwarted by last month’s snow. It was formed to lobby for a better deal in the music business, especially as music services and acts’ labels tie up online rights deals amongst themselves. The coalition told us it is not releasing any details of discussion topics or any resolutions that might have passed.

Founding board member, Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien, in Times Online before the meeting: “The music companies did a deal with Nokia (NYSE: NOK) recently, so they could launch phones with access to all sorts of music. We think they all received advances from Nokia, but nobody is saying who got what – and we think some of that money should go to the artists.
