Conde Nast Layoffs Hit CondeNet, Maruzzi Replacement Underway

CondeNet UK is in consultation with staff to make four redundancies as part of wider cutbacks at the magazine publisher. The online unit has undergone a restructure but some CondeNet International staff have been drafted in to CondeNet UK for the Wired.co.uk launch. That means CondeNet UK’s headcount remains 42, a spokesperson said, confirming Guardian.co.uk’s story.

CondeNet International president Stefano Maruzzi’s (pictured) decision to quit for personal reasons back home in Italy was announced earlier this month, and he will be replaced – recruitment is currently underway, the spokesperson said. Across the company in the UK, Conde Nast is deciding whether to re-fill 22 of 43 jobs vacated since November, and other expense cutbacks are being made. But expense isn’t being spared too much on the Wired launch event, which happens tonight at London’s Skylon restaurant.
