Netimperative Digital News Site Closing After Ad Cash Dries Up

After surviving mostly on syndication and press release redistribution for the last couple of years, digital news site Netimperative is closing down after nearly 10 years in the business.

Netimperative launched in 2000 and had variously operated premium subscription services and knocked out original editorial over the years, serving the digital media and marketing communities. But the site has been slim in recent years, running only a few stories together with company comment. MD Davina Lines on Monday wrote: “Due to the current economic climate, we have been struggling to achieve the level of sponsorship and advertising commitment needed to see us through the summer and it is therefore necessary to close the service.”

Lines, who is pregnant, says she will set up a freelance events company but also start a weekly digital media newsletter. Of her two staff, Robin Langford and Charlie Lines are looking for work.
