Norwegian browser maker Opera has opened BlackBerry beta testing for version five of its Opera Mini mobile software, adding the “speed dial”, tab and password manager that it already has on the PC desktop.
Reuters: “Opera is used for about 25 percent of global internet traffic from mobiles, followed by Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) with 22 percent and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 21 percent, according to web analytics firm StatCounter.”
Opera’s unique feature is routing traffic through its servers that compress desktop web pages by up to 90 percent for mobile devices. Opera claims 30 million users.
