Marten Mickos: A year after quitting Sun following its acquisition of MySQL, the database company’s former CEO Marten Mickos is becoming “entrepreneur-in-resident” at Last.fm and Moo.com VC backer Index Ventures, a title he already holds at Benchmark Capital in the U.S. Index itself cashed in with Sun’s MySQL acquisition – it had invested in MySQL.

TheBusinessDesk.com: Marc Reeves, recently made redundant as Birmingham Post editor when the paper shifted from daily to weekly, is setting up his own The BusinessDesk.com for the region, a local version of the site already started by born-again journos in Yorkshire and the northwest. Via PG.

Sunday Times: Ex thelondonpaper online ed Serena Kutchinsky and Wired.co.uk ed Holden Frith are online assistant eds at The Sunday Times, ahead of it launching a spin-off site behind a paywall, J.co.uk reports, adding ex-Time (NYSE: TWX) Out London ed Gordon Thomson will be online deputy ed.
