Chancellor George Osbourne, in his emergency budget Tuesday, has clicked “undo” on £1 billion in tax relief the UK video games industry was promised in March.
Previous chancellor Alistair Darling had heeded long-made calls for the tax relief, which countries like Canada, most notably, give to developers. But Osbourne’s budget speech says: “In the current climate, with the deficit the size it is, all these reductions in tax must be more than paid for by other changes to business taxation.”
