Global Radio Picks Online Veteran Shepherd For Digital MD

As it unites its remaining Hit Network stations under one national brand, Global Radio has picked Lloyd Shepherd to replace outgoing digital director Robin Pembrooke, Pembrooke says.

Pembrooke is becoming ITV’s online MD, as we revealed last month.

As Pembrooke says, Shepherd’s appointment is non an interim basis.

Shepherd held senior posts at The Guardian and Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) Europe before trying his own indie blog publishing house called Messy Media. In 2008, he joined Channel 4 to head a future solutions team and, in 2009, he began heading BBC Vision’s multiplatform products.

He left the BBC in May and had been consulting through his Grey Shepherd.

Global Radio, which nowadays includes the old GCap’s stations since the acquisition a couple of years ago, is about to kill off the identities of eight more regional stations, uniting them under the brand of its London station, Capital.
