BT (NYSE: BT) added 251,000 DSL connections between April and June, while TalkTalk lost 27,000 broadband customers.
BT signed up 71,000 fibre broadband customers in the quarter – but TalkTalk only 1,000.
TalkTalk’s sign-ups for Fibre Optic Boost are running at a lowly 200 per week.
But BT Infinity already has 200,000 customers and says the service is available to five million households. “We are working with BT Openreach to develop the product further,” TalkTalk says in defence.
BT now has over 600,000 BT Vision subscribers.
BT pre-tax profit grew by a fifth to £533 million on five percent lower revenue of £4.76 billion. TalkTalk earned five percent lower revenue of £423 million.
