Italians are twice as likely to pay for digital content as consumers in some other major nations.
At least, that’s what they told UK communications regulator Ofcom, which published the findings in its International Communications Market Report 2011.
The proportion of those who say they regularly pay for content is as low as equivalent surveys suggest – eight percent in the UK, seven percent in the US.
But Italians’ 14 percent is impressive – and a surprise.
Where did this statistic come from, and what content are Italians paying for? That’s not made clear in Ofcom’s research.
Are Italians just boasting? Twelve percent said they don’t even know whether they pay for content.
