Broadband Content Bits: Joost/Paramount Movies, Disney Reboot, C4 4OD Expands

Joost: Joost has taken delivery of some 34 movies in a deal with Paramount Pictures UK (announcement). In April, the outfit hired former Paramount Comedy Networks Europe MD Tony Orsten to lead UK content acquisition efforts. The new movies include The Hunt For Red October, Star Trek, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Fatal Attraction. This latest development appears to be part of a deal struck in February with Paramount Pictures parent Viacom and adds to the movie deals Joost has with ALL3MEDIA International, Alliance Atlantis, September Films and Wall to Wall.

Disney: Disney (NYSE:DIS) is to overhaul its websites in Europe from early next year, with disney.co.uk first to get a new lick of paint. The UK site will include a “prominent role” for games and social networks and will be made by Leeds designers Pilot Interactive NMA reports.

Channel 4: The broadcaster’s 4OD online, on-demand catch-up service is expanding, Waveguide reports. Started in December, 4OD had allowed users to download a show in the seven days after its TV transmission, expiring 30 days after download. Now the download window is being extended to let people download any show from the last 30 days. The 30-day expiry window remains.
