Industry Moves: Scotsman Head Of Content; BBC’s Williams Leaving; Ariande Capital

Scotsman: The Scotsman is the latest paper to stake its cross-media staffing credentials, hiring a head of content to sit across newsgathering for both the printed publication and Scotsman.com. In the old days, such a post might simply have been head of news. Colin McNeil, an assistant editor from The News in Portsmouth, will have both online and print news editors report in to him. He will report to overall Scotsman editor Mike Gilson. Via Guardian.

Ariadne Capital: The London-based digital media investment and advisory firm, has appointed Clive Rich as Head of its Digital Music Practice. Rich recently led the Futures Division at SonyBMG. This division was responsible for all Sony (NYSE: SNE) BMG’s new and developing business – including its digital music business, TV programming and brand partnerships.

BBC: Head of research and innovation Huw Williams, who has previously headed new media for BBC Radio, will leave the post after two years next year. As part of the corporation’s reconfiguration, the BBC is scrapping the post, replacing it with an overall controller with a deputy each for research and future media, Guardian reckoned.

Reuters: Reuters (NSDQ: RTRSY) CEO Tom Glocer will join the board of US drugs giant Merck tomorrow, the pharmaceutical company announced. He will stand for re-election to the board in April. (Via release).
