Presses Stop For Retail Mag Checkout, Goes Online Only

PC Pro publisher Nexus has closed its Checkout grocery industry magazine and set the resources toward online. All the printed title’s staff have been moved online or elsewhere, Press Gazette reports. The web portal, launched last year, has clocked up 60,000 unique monthly visitors, but is it making a profit? Nexus CEO Neil Thackray says: “The revenues are smaller without a doubt, but the production costs are a lot less. Our ability to monetise the website is considerably greater than our ability to monetise a beautifully written, well-crafted, but in the end, small-footprint magazine called Checkout.”
