Zattoo Adds BBC One, Two, ITV1 To Channel Line-Up Z

Our story last week on the legal position surrounding live TV streaming app Zattoo appears to have created some movements. In response to Channel 4’s statement it was “obviously concerned” about the service, and to another report claiming broadcasters were taking legal advice, country manager Alexandra Iles told us a UK legal loophole meant public service channels are free to be distributed as widely as possible.

And that reminder seems to have borne almost immediate fruit, with the BBC and ITV (LSE: ITV) signing on to offer its BBC One, BBC Two and ITV1 channels via the service, Zattoo said today. Added to a lineup that already included Channel 4 and Five, this gives Zattoo, which streams live channels around the world, the full suite of UK PSB channels. Iles last week told us Zattoo does hand broadcasters audience data. The new BBC channels include the regional opt-outs, she told us today.

Commenters in our previous threads seeking access to Coronation Street might want to note that, with Zattoo and an national IP spoofer, they may be able to get the soap overseas.
