Russian publisher GameLand is buying hockey portal AllHockey.ru from its founders for between $400,000 and $500,000, Russian business daily Kommersant reports (via Quintura).
The site was founded by the pair who started general sports portal Championat.ru and then sold it to LiveJournal owner Sup. AllHockey.ru fits with Gameland’s existing Total Football magazine, TotalTootball.ru portal and Football Manager video game; Gameland plans to grow advertising revenue from AllHockey.ru by 40 percent annually, to $800,000 in 2009. Kommersant says traffic for sports sites in Russia has increased after Zenit St Petersberg’s Uefa Cup victory, the hosting of the Champion’s League final in Moscow and Russia reaching the Euro 2008 semi-final.
