X-Factor Maker Fremantle Partners With YouTube

The X-Factor producer FremantleMedia has signed a deal to become a YouTube channel partner. It’s a move that will see the TV outfit make two YouTube channels – one for clips of its TV shows, another for new online commissions. But it will also see Fremantle use YouTube’s VideoID technology to profit from videos users upload without its permission. Fremantle had previously written to such folks with cease-and-desist warnings, as the following video from Neighboursfan1986 – who uploaded whole episodes of the Aussie soap – attests. There are already thousands of X-Factor videos on the site, so Fremantle seems to have decided to embrace the popularity, not fight it.
