Shiny Media, Investor Split Their Blogs; VC Keeps Fashion Sites

The dispute between collapsed blog publisher Shiny Media and its venture backer appears to have subsided, with the pair agreeing to divide the portfolio of vertical sites. Update See our interview with the buyer

Shiny entered administration last month with writers claiming months of unpaid bills. Two of its three co-founders have tried to resurrect the business afresh under the name Shiny Digital but Dan Wagner, a partner with Bright Station Ventures, which gave Shiny under a million in funding in 2007, was contesting the administration, arguing Shiny had been solvent. Both sides have been hesitant to speak for legal reasons over recent weeks. The settlement sees Wagner take control of Shiny’s fashion-focused blogs. Statement follows…

Statement relating to the recent administration of Shiny Media Limited.

We would like to clarify that Shiny Media Limited was put into
administration on Friday 17th July and was bought by Shiny Digital
Ltd.  Shiny Digital has no relationship with Dan Wagner, Shaa Wasmund
or Bright Station Limited.

As of today’s date and in settlement of the outstanding dispute
between the various parties, Dan Wagner, through a newly formed Bright
Station entity, has acquired several former Shiny Media websites and
blogs from Shiny Digital that catered specifically to the fashion
community.

These sites are: Catwalk Queen, Kiss and Make Up, Bag Lady, Shoewawa,
Crafty Crafty, Dollymix, Trashionista, Shiny Gloss, Star Trip and
Nollie.

Meanwhile all other Shiny Media titles will remain with Shiny Digital Limited.
