FremantleMedia Taking Control Of Games Maker Ludia

Last week, Endemol said it was creating a games division. This week, another TV super-indie, FremantleMedia, says it’s buying its own games developer.

The X Factor maker is adding a further 51 percent of Montreal-based Ludia to the 29 percent it already owned, bringing its stake to 80 percent.

Ludia has already been making games of FremantleMedia’s properties since 2008 for Wii, PC and iOS – The Price is Right (pictured), Family Feud and Press Your Luck. And lately it’s begun making them in to Facebook games, starting with The Price is Right.

FremantleMedia CEO Tony Cohen, in the announcement: “This will increase our expertise and capability in this area, allowing both companies to develop even more successful consumer-facing entertainment across multiple platforms.”

FremantleMedia Enterprises had picked Koch Media game studio Deep Silver to develop the forthcoming X Factor singing console game.
