BBC News’ Emerging Platforms Editor Brannan Leaving

Veteran BBC News online exec Paul Brannan is leaving the corporation after 14 years, paidContent:UK has learned and confirmed.

The exit of Brannan, who is currently emerging platforms editor, was confirmed to staff by straight-talking multimedia journalism development head Pete Clifton, who is himself taking redundancy.

The pair had been at the BBC News site since its inception by Mike Smartt.

The BBC is making wide-ranging cost savings.

Brannan had previously been deputy editor of the site. He will be leaving March 31; no word on a next project yet.
