— Blinkx: Of the many press releases put out by video search site Blinkx (four so far today), one of the most significant is the announcement it is now making its core search feature available to third parties under the “Red Label” codename. First to take up the offer are MSN UK’s Live Search and Russia’s Rambler portal. Red Label offers publishers free search capability for Blinkx’s 26 million-hour video index.
— IPTV EU: European IPTV subscribers rose from 3.9 million to 8.4 million in the last year, according to a study by Point Topic for The Broadband Forum (via PC World). The study again identified France as the IPTV leader.
— Babelgum: The quest for profit begins in earnest for the London/Dublin/Nice-based P2P TV platform, as it hires Ethan Podell and Weatherbug’s Michael Rosen as president and EVP of its new US office in New York. The company today clarified its USP, saying it offers something different from the range of UGC or recycled network shows found on some other sites.
